CIA Seeks Probe of Iraq-Al Qaeda Memo Leak The CIA will ask the Justice Department to investigate the leak of a 16-page classified Pentagon memo that listed and briefly described raw agency intelligence on any relationship between Saddam Hussein's Iraqi government and Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda terrorist network, according to congressional and administration sources...and if this probe is like so many others, that will be the end of this news item.

What lies exactly, in regards to memos are you talking about? The leaked memo that says that Democrat Senators needed to filibuster Miguel Estrada since he is "especially dangerous" because "he is Latino." ?? Or did you mean the lies in the leaked memo from the Democrat Senators on the supposedly bipartisan Intelligence committee, about how they were going to "pull the triger" and politicize classified intelligence to undermine the President in next year's election? Those lies? Or the Ossam-Saddam leaked memo that the DoD say "drew no conclusions" and "was not an analysis of the substantive issue of the relationship between Iraq and al Qaida." All but disavowing the memo. Those lies?

(very likely, given that 9 in 10 African American voters voted for Bush... oh, wait, it's the opposite! bah) too bad the quote is more like, if I remember correctly, Miguel Estrada (D.C. Circuit) as especially dangerous, because he has a minimal paper trail, he is Latino, and the White House seems to be grooming him for a Supreme Court appointment. They want to hold Estrada off as long as possible." ie, he's "dangerous" because he's hard to shoot down, not because the writer thinks (and put on paper) that Latinos are evil: Estrada's left a very small paper trail (ah, how I liked the way Clarence Thomas argued that he had never discussed Roe... Miguel's learnt the lesson), he's a minority so Republicans are ready to play exactly your card (ie whining and innuendo about "Racist Dems"), so Estrada could very well become another Clarence Thomas (ie impossible to Bork unless you're ready to be smeared as a racist) about how they were going to "pull the triger" and politicize classified intelligence to undermine the President in next year's election do you need me to link Rove's 2002 memo about milking Iraq for all it's worth to win the election and make Dems look unpatriotic? or you still remember it? look, look. somewhat relevant to this thread, for archival purposes: Hatch Staffer Put On Leave for Accessing Democratic Files Nov. 26, 2003 (Washington-AP) -- Utah Senator Orrin Hatch says he put one of his staffers on administrative leave for improperly obtaining data from the secure computer networks of two Democratic senators. Hatch calls it an improper, unethical and simply unacceptable breach of confidentiality. Hatch launched an investigation after Senators Dick Durbin and Edward Kennedy protested what they said was the theft of memos from their servers. The memos concerned political strategy on blocking confirmation of several of President Bush's judicial nominations. The committee's four computer servers were disconnected and daily backup tapes had been given to the U-S Capitol Police. An outside expert will conduct a forensic assessment to determine if there had been unauthorized access to files. Hatch says an investigation has revealed at least one current staff member had improperly accessed at least some of the documents.
