Sure, you all know Barberella from the campy 60's cult film, and our own vacapinta turned us on to the classic French anti-hero, Fantomas. Yet there are even more sleazy, Eurotrash cartoon characters to adore at Cool French Comics: the diabolical Satanik, the [ahem] big-top avenger Felina, and in a shocking twist, my childhood idol TinTin going main a la main with the Dark Knight.

these look great--by Paul d'Ivoi. (this post reminds me of the Comic Strip Museum in Brussels--I went a few weeks ago. It was hard bec. i can't read french, but I was able to more fully focus on the actual art of them. I also picked up some 60s issues of Tintin magazine at a flea market--they're incredible.

vacapinta, D.R. and Quinch were issued here in the US a number of years back by Last Gasp, I believe. I recall seeing it in my local comic book shop. amberglow, I saw quite a few copies of Tintin magazine for sale by street vendors along the Seine in Paris last Summer, but didn't buy any. Here's a pretty excellent and exhaustive Tintin site, but it's in French too, unfortunately for us non-Francophones.

Those are some cool French comics. Also check out Book Palace for their nice selection of British comics with the fantastic Scoops galllery and Ron Turner tribute. But my two favorite comic sites have to be EC Science Fiction Comics and The Wondrous Wasp, a true magnificent obsession featuring drawings of every costume The Wasp ever appeared in. The Cufon UFO/Flying Saucer comics cover gallery is also fun.
