Pancakes! Not just your everyday pancakes this time though. Alan Clark has turned his family recipe into a c13 isotope lased medical breakthrough. - via Fark (of course)

This would be terrific. I had to drink some of those isotopes a couple of years ago, and I have to say that stuff is the foulest substance on Earth. You can barely get it down, it's so terrible. If this guy's got pancakes instead, it'd be great. Obviously, it's a great thing for kids, but I think adults would really prefer this too.

Little lost on the flapjack batter working best/equal unlike other dough mixes. Maybe a "baker" or "medical" person can add more.

Why flapjacks? Because first it's a morning meal that a patient will eat in preparing for their test later that day. Also the flapjack's batter allows the c13 to be efficiently spread out in each flapjack unlike other doughs. The fact being that flapjack batter is a much "runnier" consistency mix than other mixes. Thus not pancaking the ingredients spread through out each flapjack which is needed in order for a "good" accurate test.

So wait, TCS -- are you a "baker" or "medical" person?

This is definitely an interesting development. If c13 can be used to detect other ailments, it could revolutionize gastric disease detection.

Shoepal: Exactly.

Flapjack(s) U.K. style are NOT pancakes. They're the U.S. equivalent of bar-cookies.

So wait, TCS -- are you a "baker" or "medical" person?
no, sorry; re-wrote my first comment but didn't re-write its intro too; it looks like I answered my own question:)

Wanted a baker or medical person to help out why other than a breakfast food and a runnier batter like crapes/pancakes which this seems to be wrong on my end. Thinking the flapjacks here are pancakes as my older family members have called them. Maybe a better question should have been: why not a bran muffin instead of flapjacks?

What is a "bar cookie": granola bar? Why not a sugar cookie? If like a granola bar is this a product you would buy at a health store then eat before going to the doctor?

"The success of this project is due to the baking skills of Alan Clark and his precision in manufacturing the flapjacks to the exacting standards required by the pharmaceutical sector.

Interesting none-the-less though.
