Wow. What a bunch of assholes.

While I certainly have no love for a lot of the music these people are talking about, they may be the most tedious bunch of killjoys I have ever seen. More proof that Marxists are really Puritans in disguise, in that they can't stand the thought that someone somewhere might be enjoying themselves, especially with something they don't approve of. Political fundamentalists are as tiresome as religious fundementalists.

And music provided it's own review of Mao and his ilk

And could this person please spell the word women correctly?

tommyspoon, you are clearly a cryptosyndicalist running-dog capitalist lackey with masculofascist tendencies. You will be the first up against the wall when the revolution comes.

Ahhh, don't you just love it when the parodies just write themselves?...it saves so much time. Too much of this sort of thing could put the Onion out of business

No, he's not. I know, cause I'm one, and he's never at the meetings.

I like the fact that they plan on putting Eminem in a re-education camp... WHEN THE REVOLUTION COMES!!!

And in a country like the United $tates, where the workers would rather live off the exploitation of the third world...

d00ds, they spelled out the US with dollar signs!!! Which, of course, will be a grammatical requirement--when the revolution comes...

Do these folks like anything?

Do these folks like anything?

Sure they do. They like Rage Against the Machine.

Of course.

At the risk of sounding pretty stupid, is this an actual organization? - It looked like parody at first glance, then I started poking around, and, well...these people seem serious...

Sure they do. They like Rage Against the Machine.

So, not only are they delusional, they also have horrible taste.

I'll betcha this organization is almost exclusively made up of white, upper-middle to upper class, Ivy League educated brats who were not beaten enough as children.

They make it pretty clear that they don't even care about the music, just about THE MESSAGE. Man. Reading these (and their movie reviews) just makes my head hurt. It reminds me of a Marxist critique of The Simpsons that I read once, claiming that the show is a total failure because it doesn't show capitalism in a bad-enough light.

Nah, no-one uses "wimmin" without a hefty dose of parody post-Millie Tant. Must be a gag.

"...who were not beaten enough as children."

Seriously, though: Are any children beaten enough?

Yeah, the MIM are a real organization -- very tiny; you can see a handful of 'em at various demos. They're the ones wearing the atrocious "Mao More Than Ever" t-shirts.

I would like, however, to speak up for Marxists who are most decidely neither puritans nor killjoys with crappy taste in music. But then, I'm a Trotskyist; we're the ones who like art and culture.

Just an outstanding thread. Thank you one and all.

> They like Rage Against the Machine.

Does that mean they're wholly owned by Sony, like RATM was?

So would a cryptosyndicalist running-dog capitalist lackey without masculofascist tendencies be the second against the wall?

I like the Amazon Associates links.

Commies, bah! They'd have me painting harvest combines and lathes in the horrendous socialist realist style, instead of this. I'll never forgive those nitwits for suppressing Constructivism.

I kind of expected them to have Springsteen in the reviewed list, though of course he would be spanked for not being worker-friendly enough I suppose. But I had to laugh at their review of Midnight Oil.
