Graffiti Archaeology Pretty cool flash app that lets you view photos of the same walls in San Francisco over time, as the many layers of graffiti accumulate. To anyone that has ever ridden the Caltrain, a lot of these walls should look familiar.

This is freaking cool. I can only wish they had collected some shots during the heyday of SF's Psycho City: when content changed daily--if not hourly.

there was a great mural over on the east end of 16th st., which was just part of a industrial storage lot, but they tore it down recently. too bad really.

Great concept, beautifully executed -- I hope the site continues to expand. I was reminded of some alley space in Berkeley that I've been watching that's being contested; maybe the time's come to update my photos.

San Francisco is now prosecuting a group of friends and graffiti writers as a criminal street gang, complete with felony conspiracy charges (sfbg). If convicted on all counts, they could face up to 21 months in state prison.

The East A and West B ones are my favorite as an outsider in terms of the scope done and undone and the dilligence in capturing it all.

If you can't do the time, don't do the crime. I'm sure these people knew there would be reprocussions.
