Welcome to this, the 23rd Annual Xmas Quiz, a holiday tradition in the Bay Area for 23 years. No. 12 is probably too obscure, and No. 14 will inspire rampant pedantry. 16 questions on a wide range of subjects, and answers are here posted by amberglow (10 comments total)

The King William's quiz has a few easy "end of year" ones at the end, so you don't feel completely stupid.
As to the Bay area quiz, ask me again, when all my well educated and more intelligent friends wake up. posted by fullerine at 1:05 AM on December 27, 2003
Heh heh, the vibrissae question was one of the few that I actually knew. Although the answer they printed was a little off - (SEMI-SPOILER) they're not restricted to cats. posted by synapse at 11:01 AM on December 27, 2003
I found another--an audio quiz--The Quotes Quiz from the bbc (this is easier, mostly) posted by amberglow at 4:30 PM on December 27, 2003
Good quiz. Very hard.
For Q6 you could also have Eire. posted by Pretty_Generic at 8:38 AM on December 28, 2003
Yeah, I thought of Eire too. Anybody come up with another four-letter country name? We had a lot of fun chewing that one over this last couple of days. posted by languagehat at 9:18 AM on December 28, 2003
