Okay. A brief and partial Fisking of this column produces the following unsourced allegations: --aging liberals view sodomy with a chubby intern in the back office as "having fun." Really? All of them? --It's the blue states that are constantly sending lawyers to the red states to bother everyone. Really? Do tell. --Americans in the red states look at a place like New York City -- where, this year, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade featured a gay transvestite as Mrs. Claus -- and say, Well, I guess some people like it, but it's not for me. Well, the "gay transvestite" was Harvey Fierstein, who's currently playing a female character on Broadway. Less of a tempest in a teapot than Ms. Coulter is making of it. And all Americans in "the red states" look askance at NYC? The states that I was born in, grew up in, and lived in last all were "red states" and went for Bush in the last election. And I jumped at the chance to move to New York. I also love how in this column, she advocates FIRST getting information from Saddam, and THEN torturing him. You get the drift. Monju, compared to Michael Moore's outright fabrications in that Columbine documentary, I'll take Coulter anyday. Vidiot, I won't even start with the Alexandria-like library denouncing lies told by authors from the left (not errors, mind you; not rhetoric devices and generalizations either, but deliberate lies to misguide readers), starting with Karl Marx's statistics from The Capital. Attempts have been made to discredit conservative authors (Michelet, Gibbon, James Frazer; more recently, check out the recent aldaily entry on the Bjorn Lomborg controversy) on accounts of inaccuracy and so on, but the same standards rarely apply when liberals judge liberal authors. As to Saddam, she's only guilty of saying out loud what many people actually think. Given the opportunity, what would most Jews do with Hitler?

The reports of his "fabrications" in "Columbine" are greatly exaggerated. facts regarding Ann Coulter's "ignorance" They have been widely and extensively documented. If you were really interested in finding them it wouldn't take you long.

Coulter is one of the most talented, outspoken and genuinely funny columnists working today. What's wrong with automatically rejecting communists? Where the hell did "communists" come into play in this discussion? I know that Coulter has been declaring McCarthy as a latter-day saint for a while now, but our particular discussion has not moved into that realm. I assume by "communist" you are referring either to individuals who follow the work of Marx and Englels, or alternatively, those who lived in or supported the USSR, Vietnamese, Cubans, etc. If you're not referring to either of these groups, then you're using it as an invective word. In that case, didn't you get the memo that we're calling pinko liberal scum "terrorists" now? And yes, Coulter is outspoken in her attempts to stir the bucket. However, that particular talent doesn't necessarily mean she's a good journalist, only an entertaining columnist. She complains about the slanted media and uses other opinion editorials as a basis for complaint, while using petty slander to belittle individuals. Rather than speak to issues or the real politics, she reduces her work to ad hominem attacks and quickly shifts the focus of any retort. I respect Ann Coulter in the same way I respect klerck and several other widely known trolls on the internet; her ability to have her work seen as legitimate by anyone who gives it a cursory glance amazes me. You have my respect, 111 and hama7. At least, I hope you do, for if you're not trolling, you're scaring the hell out of me.

The only Nazi that was caught and tried by Israel, Adolf Eichman, received at worst a show trial that involved Israel paying for the defense attorney of his choice, and judges who tried to be fair. There were no allegations of torture or anything of the sort. (unless you consider hanging torture, which, you have me there...) Of course people think these things but we use restraint, judgment and discipline to avoid doing what our base, visceral instincts tell us and instead strive for a more high minded approach. When the kid at McDonald's fucks up my order and gives me the wrong change, I want to swear at him and call him a dumbass but I have this thing we call self-control. It's called taking the high road. We strive to carefully and judiciously carry out government and foriegn policy, not kick everyone's ass because we can and them sand niggers had it coming anyway. That Ann Coulter is put on a pedastal for appealing to the most base eye for an eye instincts because, by golly, that's good ole Old Testament justice, lowers us all.
