Complaint to nic.cx results in goatse.cx being suspended. Obligatory online petition is started. Screams and sobbing are heard on a regular basis on Slashdot.
Links are SFW, but any investigation further may not be. This is truly a dark time for the internet.

While I am strongly in favor of the domain's right to post whatever questionable content it wishes -- to the detriment of millions of viewers of cheesy bulletin board posts -- and I'm typically an opponent of the tyrrany of the majority when it comes to subjective judgement of propriety, the portion of the AUP quoted in the complaint seems pretty clear that the site (and probably thousands of other sites) is in violation of the agreement.
It's a bad AUP, but "goatse" signed up to abide by it rather than do business with a NIC with fewer restrictions. posted by majick at 12:02 PM on January 15, 2004

Apparently from what I read (and please don't ask me how I found out,) but the goatse man is a hermaphrodite and is actually stretching out his female parts. If you look up his back a bit you will see a divit which I believe is his ass.

I would swear that I rented a room from the Goatse man once. He went by another name and has since died from a strange and rare form of cancer unrelated to the anal fetish. It was related to a small cup he kept by his cookstove which he used to collect and save meat drippings (fat) for reuse. Goatse man was stingy, and the meat fat caused a rare stomach cancer. He never showed his ass to me, fortunately. He never saw mine either. It was platonic. I did help him slaughter a sheep once, but that was nonsexual and quite respectful.

I don't really get it. I was never that shocked by goatse anyway. Come on, what's the big deal. Okay, so the guy is pulling open his asshole, so what? How many times do you see vaginas opened to the world on the internet, and that's not such a big hooha. At least it's a clean asshole.
