This Census site is way cooler than the other one
The Census Monitoring Board is really snazzy. It has a lot of interesting reports to Congress on ways to improve the Census. It's way cooler than most .gov sites, especially census2000.gov

Snazzy? Oh come on, you've got to try harder than that! This site is pure pseudo-science. It was set up by Republicans afraid of losing power because of inconvenient demographic realities. It's so pathetic, they don't even *pretend* to be unbiased!

One thing: that's not a Census Bureau site. That's the site of a board appointed by Congress to tell them what they want to hear. The whole statistical sampling fiasco a couple years ago was due to the fact that the Republican controlled Congress didn't want more people showing up on the ledgers in traditionally Democratic areas.

If you're looking for a nifty Census Bureau site, try American FactFinder.

If the Republicans want to insist on physically laying a pencil-pusher's hands on everyone in the country, I have no objections. I just don't want any whining about how much it costs the taxpayers.

Well, all of these are good points. I still think the site *looks* snazzy. This of course doesn't change my mind about sampling. The discussion of "Hard-to-count" areas did give me a giggle. While I like peering into specialized systems of study, reading about how to measure "hard-to-countness" is like watching a phrenologist measure skull width.
