Worst. Ever!?!, catagory it is.
At least it won't sell. An adult buying this toy then giving it as a gift, would be playing russion roulette being liked. As this gun has no bang which can be said of its worth as a toy, boring.

Heh. I saw this on the SA forums, but it was entitled "Best Toy Ever."

I just showed this to my girlfriend, who is from Japan. It's called "Hippo Kick" in Japanese. Apparently, the hippo's feet come out and kick you. As usual when she is shown odd Japan stuff from Metafilter, she said "What's strange about that? I had one when I was a kid."

The sign the hippo is carrying on the box says, "Safe!"

Very funny, thanks.

Sure, we laugh about it now, but once all these Japanese kids grow up and can kick America's ass at Russian Roulette, then it won't be so funny.

Get your kid one today!

I like the game where they perform ritual suicide to save their honor, points going out to the person who doesn't cry out in pain.

My friends and I would have played with one of these growing up.

A big pink gun that fires hippo feet is hardly going to twist an entire generation of Japanese minds.

They have Hentai for that.

Worst. Childrens. Record. Title. Ever.

Heh. My kids have that CD. It's not bad lullaby-type music, but the name of that title track always cracks me up.

A few years ago for my birthday, my friends gave me a gun-shaped toy that played lambada music when you pulled the trigger. The cool part: It was also a whistle if you put the barrel in your mouth.

I enjoyed whistling along to the lambada music. Makes me want to try it with a real gun!

Screw the children, won't somebody please think of those poor footless hippos?

Not even close, unless you are seriously underestimating the twisted appeal and outright killing power of Jarts.
