Well, maybe not that title, but the story of teenage girls spending two years to convince developers to build a multiplex in their hometown would have made a great '80s teen flick. Armed with binders of business plans and black-and-white skirt suits, they succeeded, and broke ground Thursday. All because they were sick of asking Mom for rides.

This is totally a movie waiting to happen. Hell, they're remaking Dirty Dancing, so clearly '80s teen flicks are on the return. I can hear the trailer now. In a city... dominated by fear.... seven girls... bring back the magic...

If the movie ever comes to pass and is released in the UK, I suggest avoiding using the tagline... "Seven teenagers, imbued with spunk" You'd get the wrong kind of crowd.

hmm, George Lucas filmed American Graffiti in Petaluma, and now Lucasfilm executives are negotiating with teenagers there. I think this new movie could be a sequel!

As a former Petaluma resident (from 4th grade through the first couple years of college), I say way to go. Petaluma had a great locally owned theatre years ago, which went out of business after the large chain megaplex moved to town, which subsequently went out of business when the chain decided to cannibalize it's own business by building an even larger theatre in the next town. P-town has been cinema-deprived for at least 4 years now. Good for these girls taking the initiative here. A theatre near the historic downtown will do way better than the old one, which was barely in the city limits, let alone the commercial/public areas. Too bad it's another chain theater, instead of a smaller, locally owned theatre like we have in neighboring Santa Rosa and Healdsburg...
