Imagine if this kind of determination was directed toward accomplishing something useful. In a way this reminds me of those 'ultimate defiance' cartoons where the frog is choking the shit out of the pelican even as it slides down its throat. Noble, indomitable human spirit - or just another bored, rich guys bizarre ongoing self destruction?

They're not all rich guys. Rich guys (e.g. Beck Weathers) tend to get put off by having things cut off of them. I suspect this guy is one of those who lives for climbing.

It still speaks to the ongoing mainstreaming of Everest. It's only a matter of time before the Nepalese Park Service builds a wooden walkway with interpretive huts along the way.
