cool... not much of a failure space though. i was disappointed to find i couldn't "accidentally" staple the patient's leg to his butt.

still, pretty amazing that this kind of surgery is so common and effective these days. i found myself thinking "cement? drills? this really WORKS?"

I agree, very cool, but I was hoping the patient would yelp or something if I drilled him in the wrong spot.

As someone who will have to replace his knee in about 30 years, I like what I'm seeing.

Man, I really wanted to be able to screw it up. Like, take the bovie instead of the marker, and cauterize my initials into his groin. And then staple his toes together. Instead, the stupid doctor just says, "Nope" or there's a non-specific error tone.
Where's the gore? Doesn't this just encourage children to "try it at home" if there's no way to screw up?

Very neat.

Anyone else play "Life or Death" surgery simulator back in the wonderful days of 4 color CGA graphics?

I could do an appendectemy like nobody's business.

My little brother and I found creative ways to kill the patients. :) Hee!

i'm envisioning some kind of grand theft appendix where you get to play a seedy back alley mafia doctor whose good name has been sullied by bogus malpractice lawsuits. you could either burn fingerprints off two-bit hoods, or try and get your medical degree back and go straight. total immersion! in blood!! up to the forearms, anyway.

While you can't cut off his leg or poke the nurse with the cautert, I'd like to point out that you can write smiley faces (or presumably even obscenities!!!!) on the patient with the marker. I added some fine art to my CUT HIM HERE lines.

this is fantastic! (even though it made me slightly queasy.) it's my experience that kids sites/books are often the best way to learn the basics of any given topic quickly (and it's also a lot of fun to spend some time in the children's section of your local library)..
