the separate cinema archive has for almost three decades been the only source dedicated to the art and fascinating history of African Americans in film. The archive of over 25,000 movie posters, lobby cards, stills and material from over a dozen foreign countries, spans the past century of important historic black cinema.

Great link, Sarge!

I've got a copy of Kisch's book and always wondered what he had been up to.

that is an invaluable resource, and separate cinema puts together some great programs -- one of them came close to boston recently, and thanks to a boyfriend who used to work for the schomburg center in nyc, i got to see another. they put such work into pulling this together that i'm willing to overlook the absence of my favourite blaxploitation movie, ganja and hess.

Cool site, but calling themselves the "only source dedicated to the art and fascinating history of African Americans in film" is preposterous. Also see: the Black Film Center/Archive at Indiana University and Midnight Ramble.
