I was thinking the same thing... I was already aware of Dooce... but there was also - winner of the Best NSW Blog, Gianna, and - Robyn of Ain't to Proud to Blog and Shutterblog fame... who were/are due around the time that we were expecting. And I'm sure there are many others...

As a follow up to this post from almost four years ago, I'd love to hear folks' recommended baby blog sites. Many of the sites linked in the 2000 thread are no longer around. I'm excited to see how Dooce and Yeti integrate their babies and senses of humor. It's always fun to see entertaining writers work with new material, and certainly babies give folks a lot of to work with!

Do you want to bring kids into this world? John Edwards says "When parents bring a child into this world, they have a responsibility to provide a safe home, a good education, and a lot of love,,." Then he tries to sell you health insurance or something. Personally, I think unborn babies look creepy. They could be aliens.

This is discussion-worthy in some way? I read some 40 blogs by women on a daily basis and of that number, at least half have had a child in the time I've been reading them and another half-dozen are currently pregnant. I myself have given birth to a child and also adopted a child in the time I've been writing online. There are 46 blogger/journalers who've had babies while they were writing and joined a webring specifically about it, and there are another ~200 members in the Blogging Mommies webring. Parenthood is a pretty routine part of the lives of most adults. That ain't news.

Dreama - Isn't blogging one of the few forms of writing - short pithy comments requiring 1-60 minutes - that syncs up well with the rythyms of new babies which need constant care? I suppose they could write Haiku, or poetry. But why not put that online as well ? I'd think that Blogdom would be swamped by blogging babyminding new parents.

Statistically insignificant. At any given time, thousands of babies are being born all over the world. A handful of bloggers (fewer than ten in the FPP) having babies amongst the millions of blogs that supposedly exist... how did this become a "boom"?

For all the literalists out there, I was using the term "baby boom" as a quip. No need to start debating the statistical insignificance. A few heavily-read bloggers are having babies. I thought it was interesting. I posted. Life goes on.
