Those buggers can dig FAST.

A dear friend of mine went to Evergreen... does that count? :D He was an industrial design major. He now works in the shop that makes the blown glass and paper lamps for Starbucks.

Oh yeah, and geoducks are cool!

Before it was changed to the Flexidollar (or whatever), the Evergreen student food service credit system was called Geobucks. I heard about that before I ever knew about the geoducks thing, so you can understand my being disturbed at people paying for food with "Gooey Bucks". Yech.

Another Greener here. (Class of '93... well, December '93, so I walked at the '94 graduation. I also attended TESC in 1983-85 before taking a few years off, so if there's anyone here who was at Evergreen then... say hi!)

Evergreen is a funny place. It can be a great education. It can also be 4 years of smoking pot and listening to Phish. For some people it manages to be both. It's quite an experience and I loved going there despite my non-hippiedom (which is why I went back to finish my degree there after 7 years off).

The first week I was at school for orientation they had a guy in a big geoduck suit walking around. Imagine arriving at your first week in college and you see what appears to be a giant penis wandering around Red Square.

Oh, wow, now this song makes so much more sense to me. A friend of mine went through a public library children's music phase whilst unemployed many years back, and would make me these really bizzarro cool mix tapes. He wrote it in the liner as "The Gooey Duck Song," so I never fully understood it.

Thank you so much for clearing up something I never realized was a mystery to me!
