In '24 Hour Quiz', three contestants spend many days in a mini-Big Brother environment ('The Pod') constantly having questions fired at them with no end in sight. 'off the telly' fill in the blanks: "There's no getting away from it, '24 Hour Quiz' is quite the worst thing currently showing on ITV1 (that's even allowing for 'Footballers' Wives'). That it's spread-eagled across the schedules in three separate editions just compounds the agony. This is cheap, worthless television, offering up a huge mallet with which to beat the ITV network. It plays to our worst suspicions about the channel, and that's just annoying. There's nothing about the show that's prepared to confound or surprise, other than its sheer shoddiness." Has anyone else seen this? Is it really the worst gameshow format ever?

"Is it really the worst gameshow format ever?" As opposed to.........? It's a game show? People debasing and making fools of themselves is the point? Are you comparing this to "high brow" game shows like "Let's Make A Deal" and "The Price Is Right"? [/derail]

The game show has a long and illustrious history and there have been some really poor examples. But this feels particulrly desperate.

I tend not to watch much ITV. But I was flicking through the channels the other day and came across this. 2 minutes of watching, and I was, "What the fuck...?" Crap television. But at least I still haven't watched Footballer's Wives yet.

I watched ten minutes of the late segment last night. It was dreadful. I won't be watching it again. Nuff said.

Ah, "The Chair" and "The Chamber" were both pretty bad. Answering trivia questions while strapped to a chair and being either roasted or frozen (and trying to keep your heart rate steady) seemed pretty extreme to me.
