I want to find a copy of a song he sang called [ i think ] "The icebergs are melting" which had lyrics like this: "The icebergs are melting, oh ho ho ho. All the world is drowning. Oh ho ho ho." [ On a Ukelele of course, mind you. ]

troutfishing -- And don't miss Tiny Tim's second album either. Both of these are little gems, produced by Richard Perry (who also produced Captain Beefheart's best album, "Safe as Milk"), who is the true auteur. Without Perry, poor Tiny Tim didn't know what was charming about himself, or why people liked him, and went riding madly off in all different directions. I often wonder why Tiny Tim didn't go into gospel music when his career tumbled. He was really very devout.

Has anyone heard the McCartney/Clapton version of Something from Concert for George? I really, really don't like McCartney's skiffle opening verses even if Harrison was a big uke fan as one of the speakers claimed during the movie. Otherwise a terrific film though, especially the Billy Preston vocals on My Sweet Lord.

McCartney has been doing the uke Something bit at his concerts for a while now. It was somewhat stupid when George was still alive, but pretty much downright ugly now that he isn't. It wasn't enough that he ruined the song in the studio with his busy bass, he also has to ruin it live with a uke every time he plays it...[/Paulhate]

I once heard this beautiful version of "Somewhere over the Rainbow" performed on a uke. you may be thinking of the Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. the song was used in "er" (when dr. greene died) as well as "meet joe black" and "finding forrester"

goddam was correct about the "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" cover. (It's actually a medley with "What a Wonderful World.") It was hugely popular in Australia a few months ago when it was used in a really pretty housepaint commercial. My boyfriend tracked it down and I posted about it on my blog, only to be inundated with thanks from other Aussies trying to locate it.
