Masters of Cinema is a film blog 'for discerning cineastes the world over,' with news on directors, films, dvd releases, aspect ratio controversies, and many links to director tribute sites. They also have sites dedicated to Robert Bresson, Carl Dreyer, Ozu Yasujiro, and Andrei Tarkovsky. (The last two previously posted by hama7 and I, but it's nice to see everything together)

This has been one of my favorite sites for a long time. Along a similar vein, please check out Strictly Film School. The creator is a NASA design engineer that also happens to write very eloquently about classic and foreign films.

Looks to me that they're trying to compete with Greencine Daily, unfortunately with the approach that anything outside pretentiousness doesn't exist. However, the Worldwide DVD Calendar is helpful.

The massive Ozu retrospective (around 35 films, nearly everything that survives, with newly struck prints) is also coming to Boston / Cambridge, at the Harvard Film Archive: Yasujiro Ozu: A Centennial Celebration. I'm excited.

shortfuse - im so there : ozu is one of my favorite, if not my very favorite directors sometimes i forget that movies like "i was born but..." were even silent, it seems so natural

Excellent resource and not nearly as affected as the blog's title and self-description would have you believe. I already knew the Tarkovsky's site and it is great.
