I can appreciate her work, but... *shakes with the willies*
It's a an excellent reminder that good artwork may not be enjoyable. Give her an NEA grant. posted by stevis at 1:01 AM on March 22, 2004

warning
Is that little enough for you?
Like others, I found these funny, touching, poignant and sometimes, downright disturbing. Which, I imagine, was kind of the point of the exercise. posted by dg at 1:22 AM on March 22, 2004

I looked at these last night. Some of them, I found impressive and disturbing, but others -pretty much most of them with the subject in the bathtub- seemed to be afterthoughts, very poor composition and too self-conscious (okay, do you want me to hold the fish up here, or here? it's getting kinda cold, take the picture already!)
Of course, then I had a horrible nightmare about carrying arround my toddler's detached leg, so I'd say as art, the Disembodied pictures are pretty darned effective. posted by headspace at 6:22 AM on March 22, 2004
