US Energy Department page a ripoff from Intel.com? I was just reading about the US Strategic Petroleum Reserve and while I was reading the page I had the strange feeling that the template was copied from another site. So is this some kind of generic template or was it an original Intel production?

Curious. Does anyone recall a similar situation with another (or perhaps the same) US gov't site last year where they ripped off an old version of the ABCNews.com design? I can't find the original conversation or links anywhere.

I remember it, Jason; it was here it was pointed out. Don't remember who or when, but sometime in the last 4 months, actually, I think...

Well... that's more than just similar... that's downright theft...
Right down to the placement of the links on the top... (search, contact, help)
But still, if you look real hard, you can tell they made their own graphics.. yet if you look at the source, you'll notice that all the gfx for the top navigation thing are all in the exact same place..
I hate it when people do shit like this... (Unless, of course, it's a ready-made public domain template, in which case, I have to laugh at intel)...

A few years ago, the private company that runs prisons in Florida ripped off my employer's web site, down to the bullets. The best part was that our competition then held a design contest and gave the idiots first place.

We wrote the competition a nice letter thanking them for honoring *our* design. Then our attorneys wrote a couple of nice letters.

The prison people redesigned, but I still think it's nice that they were teaching the inmates a trade.

I seem to recall seeing a legal site (Law.com?) that used a similar blue/white (?) stripe background image like ABCNews.com...

Read the site mr. link (http://people.tamu.edu/~tony/). It documents the exchange between Tony and Derek over Tony's appropriation of Derek's design.
