Ever heard of the Merrick Foundation? How about Bigfoot Lives? Cougar? Are these guys the hardest working musicians in Portland, Oregon? A bunch of lunatics? And how do you explain this?

I've lived in Portland for nine years and have heard of none of these bands, so while they may be hard working, they're not hitting any of the venues I frequent. As far as hyping bands from the PDX I'd have to go for either The Decemberists, Quasi, or My Regrets. In general we Portlanders like to take credit for lots of bands from Olympia, especially if they've released something on K. Let's face it though... who'd want to admit they were from Oly? ;) Note: Everclear is not from here, and we're not going to admit Stephen Malkmus and his Jicks live here until he reforms Pavement and gets that girl who shrieks and plays tambourine offstage...
