This is beautiful stuff, hama. By clicking the map option you can take a tour of vintage Japan through the photos.

You post some absolutely great links. And I bet your life is much more stressful now that you're staying out of the political threads ;-)

I hadn't seen these ones before. Thanks H7. I recently took a picture of the same guard tower at Nijo Castle as one in the collection. Then and now. There are lots of old bookstores in Kyoto where I pick up old books of photos and sheaves of old postcards. A used bookstore in Japan is just like one elsewhere. The shelves are long since full and the rest of the books are piled in massive towers with just enough space to squeeze through.

I like the landscape images, but even moreso the full-regalia portraits. Great as always, Hama.

(Anyone else notice we haven't seen the likes of adamgreenfield since the peculiar "asian-fetish" post?)

Clicking up in the northern Tohoku region, you get alot of Matsushima pictures. Beautiful, but I've spend a bit of time there and the pictures dont do it justice. There is a reason it's considered one of the 3 most beautiful places in Japan.

Thanks Hama7 for the trip down memory lane.

Nice posts, as always, hama7. What a dreamlike quality to these photos.

dhoyt: (Anyone else notice we haven't seen the likes of adamgreenfield since the peculiar "asian-fetish" post?)

No, I doubt anyone noticed or cared until you brought his name up in a thread in which he wasn't even participating....but then again, you seem strangely fixated on him....and this isn't the first time you've bravely talked about someone behind their back, right?

Frankly, your gutless adamgreenfield fetish flat out gives us the creeps.

Onsen baths in Japan are such a wonderful culture. The only problem is that the same forces that bring us heated water are often associated with earthquakes as welll... so it's a double-edged sword.

Please wash well before soaking.
