McDonald's to start hawking kid's clothes. Will they make super sizes? (Don't miss the classic file photo of "children in a McDonald's restaurant.")

The McKids line has been around in the US since at least 1996, available exclusively at, you guessed it, Wal-Mart.

Also, don't miss the url to the classic file photo:

Those blokes at the BBC really are sensitive, aren't they?

It has also been introducing meal-size salads, a side salad, fresh apples and a burger made from Quorn.

Quorn??

Quorn.

Somewhere there's a McD's PR person committing seppuku with french fries.

I have to laugh at this picture - but at the same time I'm wincing, because it is exploitive of that child.

That picture has got to be the first time McDonald's ever made me think: "Michelin."

C'mon, let's make fun of the fat kid! It'll be a blast! Haw haw haw!

McKids isn't totally new, by the way. I distinctly remember it being sold on both QVC and at Sears in the late 80s. Lame-o, of course, but apparently the timing is right.

One of the posters on the Gaming-Age Forums used some Google-Fu to discover that the child in the shot is a wrestler, and that the photo in question is lifted from a previous story about how he went to McDonald's after a match.

Whoa.

Oh, so *that's* what the inside of Tblisi's McDonald's looks like...

I eat Quorn products a couple times a week. Really great meat alternative.

Author: OK, here's my idea for a science-fiction story: in the future, a huge multi-national corporation ruins your health, puts advertisements on your body, and charges you money to do so. Pretty good, huh?

Editor: Nah, that's just too far-fetched. Nobody would believe a story like that.

Wow. I love Quorn. If McDonalds started selling the stuff I might actually go there for lunch on occasion, instead of sticking with Subway's veggie subs and BurgerVille's gardenburgers.

the good things: mckidsfatty203, a photo of a 4 year old, 123 pound Russian wrestling star, and the bbc's use of said photo in an article about McDonald's new clothing line.

and Prospero. 'leeeet.

I noticed recently that the Vegetarian Society gives their approval to some of McDonad's vegetarian food, here in the UK, which is good. The Quorn option sounds good, too.

If only I hadn't lost all faith in McDonalds after their deliberate and decitful practice of tricking vegetarians into eating fries soaked in beef fat.

I was looking online for more Quorn information, and found this page of complaints.

Despite that, I'm going to try some at the earliest opportunity, and I'm not even remotely vegetarian.

I remember seeing McKids in other places, though, before they were exclusively at Wal-Mart.
