Oh wow. Not sure the skidmark is really necessary. Besides, considering the regularity with which I send cash left in my pants pockets through the wash, hiding stuff in the laundry basket just wouldn't work out.

I guess the stain is to prevent buyers from considering actually wearing the shorts, a la Spinal Tap, eh? I'm not sure how effective a hiding place this would be if a suitcase or hotel dresser were rummaged through by a would-be thief... "Hmmm... I feel something metallic and heavy and watch-sized and something else making a sound like a stack of currency and credit cards, no must just be underwear. Ewww! Skidmarks! Must flee hotel immediately! " Anyone remember the fake shaving cream hiding place, or are those too old school to fool today's savvy burgler?

Anyone remember the fake shaving cream hiding place, or are those too old school to fool today's savvy burgler? I would be too afraid that someone would borrow my "shaving cream" or wd-40", see that its empty, and throw it out.

I've seen the fake shaving cream/pepsi/scented candle safes, but I'd never considered them for actual use. I'd always assumed their only market was teenage kids who want to hide their stash from mom. I'm having trouble imagining anybody whose valuables were worth protecting, who would also be willing to use the brief-safe. 'hold on a sec, I need to put my Patek Philippe watch in this novelty hiding place.'
