-1, Shit Post

I've been a pretty stalwart defender of Newsfilter posts on MeTa, but this post more than any other in memory wants to violate my own rule regarding not dragging people into MeTa.

Much as the recent thread on the fundamental ontological principles that differ between liberals and conservatives was an example of an excellent 'News/Politics filter' post, so is this post its diametric opposite in terms of quality and potential for fomenting an interesting dialogue.

I beg to differ with you all. This post is a wonderful wonderful offering, and indeed protocool has outdone himself. I'm totally serious. This is like the Rolls Royce Silver Cloud of front page posts. This embodies everything mathowie had in mind when he coded Metafilter many moons ago. I keep reading the post over and over and thinking it's a dream. Then I check the Dishonest Dubya link and it's every bit as clever & nuanced as I'd imagined. If you don't mind, I think I'll screenshot this page, print it out and frame it in gold-leaf (I want my grandkids to see it), along with submitting the linked site to coolhomepages.com and k10k.

Yes. Shame on you, fucker. I saw it months ago, thought it was funny as hell, and it's still funny. I don't even need to visit it. The memory sustains.

Actually, y2karl, I think it was that Springfield mobster that first said that.

I think it's funnier than the Bill Clinton doll because the material is so much richer. For God sakes, it's not going to be used as part of political discourse ("yeah, well, look what the dolls says!")--it's just a harmless joke, unlike your President who is a joke of an entirely different shade ;)

To be clear, I had no problem with the Bill Clinton doll, either, even if I didn't think it was altogether funny.

I'm totally serious.

And that irony was totally eloquent.
