At least it's not Rap City's Tigger, though I'm sure the Disney guys
and the Milne heirs won't be pleased.

The wonderful thing about tiggers
Is tiggers are marvelous chaps!
They're loaded with vim and vigor
They love to leap in your laps!

I think I'll wait until the trial to make a call on this one. I *know* what Disney's screening process is like, and the odds of a molester getting through them is pretty small. Also, for the ladies...if someone grabbed your boobs, wouldn't you say something right then? Or whack them? 'Cause, I know if someone copped a feel, costume or no costume, somebody is about to draw back a nub. The Disney security team would have been there in seconds, probably to protect the dude in the suit. The whole story smells of "we can get money from Disney" to me.

The victim became very embarrassed and ashamed of the incident and claims that she did not say anything to her mother until they left the park.

Was thinking the same thing dejah420.

"Embarassed and ashamed" ?! If ANYONE who didn't have prior authorization touched my jigglies they would get a stream of obscenity and probably a slap across the face. But that's just me. Is it reasonable to assume that the girl was so embarassed she didn't say anything? Perhaps. But the MOTHER not saying anything? That's where I start to smell something very fishy (no, not that!)

Clearly Michael Eisner needs to go.

People wearing these costumes have told me they're hard seeing out of them. Did this guy have a previous history...usually they're worn by woman though.

Can't comment on this particular case, but there are quite a few uncorroborated stories floating out there of Disney Costume characters engaging in similar behaviors. Check out www.neilgaiman.com/archive under the Friday, April 04, 2003 entry for example...

There's your Eeyore aaaaa.

Having worked at a women's crisis center, I can tell you that it's actually pretty common for women who are groped by strangers to feel too embarrassed or ashamed to "make a scene" when the incident occurs.

Just saying.

Let me touch your boobs.. Oh yeah, thats the stuff..... baby you are my only tiggerette... oh yeah.... wheres your kids? Time to share the love.

The mother might have not wanted to make a scene in front of her daughter, not knowing that her daughter experienced the same thing.

Horrible if it's true.

And I find it doubtful that the costumes are usually worn by women.

Yeah, jeeziz, dehjah and BurnedEye, why so quick to blame the women? Just because it's Tigger, fer chrissake?

You may recall that several stories in The House at Pooh Corner dealt specifically with his unwanted advances - his "bouncing" of other characters - and what could be done about it.

It all makes perfect sense to me. The "Hey, I bet this guy looks like Steve Buscemi, let's say he molested us" doesn't so much.

BurnedEye BurnedEve, sorry.

Now whose eye is burned?

Maybe not always his, but bet most, size is a factor and you are dealing with kids. Of all the times I've been, Mickey was a woman.

But those costumes are huge! I just figured more men would wear them than women. And how did you know Mickey was a woman? Are you peeking?

Dear Doubters,

Here's where reading the whole article comes in handy:

In a charging affadavit filed in court, police wrote that Chartrand told them he had trouble remembering things, but was "very sorry for everything that had occurred," and hoped the victim would forgive him for what he had done.

Validity of the charges aside, my girlfriend and I both had the same thought: doesn't Tigger have, like, basketball-sized pillows for hands? How much groping could he really be doing?

Working at amusement park that's full capacity was 45K, can understand the statement. Plus the fact the Characters are mobbed when seen.

Can also see him being guilty by being a chauvinist pig, yet those costumes are so hot the last thing you think one would be doing is having some self satisfaction by grabbing some breasts.
while their pictures were being taken with the character
Where are the pictures?

Why didn't the women just grope tigger back? I'm not following the whole sexual harrasment/victim angle.

Is groping bad or good? The terminator confused me.

Completely off topic, but my third grade teacher was a "Snow White" during the summer. My first real crush.

I can tell you that Thomcatspike is right about Mickey's "friends" being women. The tall characters' [Woody, The Beast, and, yes, Tigger] "friends" are men, the shorter characters' "friends" are women, and the really short characters, like Daisy, have Little People as "friends." One of my ballroom-dance-class partners back in the day went on to become a Friend of Eeyore. CEO-of-Mouseplanet.com, back me up on this.

[I realize, of course, that if the MGM Grand followed this naming convention, that would make a number of women in the Vegas area Friends of Dorothy.]

Attending college in So. Cal, I knew lots of people who worked at Disney and heard plenty of stories about the cumbersome costumes making life difficult: the heat, the clumsiness, the blindness. I also heard about "guests" who manhandled the characters, such as the many times Goofy got hit between the legs by enthusiastic kids.

Like Dejah420 and BurnedEve, my first thought is "How can we wrangle a life time pass to Disney World?" Because if a big, furry animal got anywhere near my breasts, s/he would get a swift elbow to the side and a "Watch it, Bub!"

Mistake on the incident report? Juvenile involved is checked "no", twice. Unless, 13 isn't young enough to be a juvenile, or that's only for details about the suspect.

Just to say: 24 others have come forward in the case.
