SandwichGirl is (was?) a "dining attendant" at the McMurdo Station in Antarctica. She also keeps an intermittent journal, and takes pictures. Fun, wacky stuff.

Trik, yes, isn't she adorable in that front page photo? Substrate, dry isn't the word for it -- static electricity is a real problem for electronic equipment because of the constantly heated dry air.

Reading some of the linked and second-order-linked weblog stuff, I'm envious - if I were a little younger and a lot more single and childless, I'd try to go to Antarctica for a year even if it were only to sweep floors and scrub toilets. This looks like tremendous fun!

Sadly her tales made Antartica seem the next hipster destination (off next to Laos, darling -- see you at the gift shop, I mean the beach...) Perhaps I'm just bitter towards such "and THEN I went to..." people for screwing things up before I get there.
