I loved Sesame Street as a kid. Sadly, it's as old as I am and I am waaaaay out of touch.

You got it right… it's a miracle on Sesame Street.

This game rules.

My wife went to a playgroup at a friend's house the other day, and the hostess totally went off on how SuperGrover was bad for kids. She claimed that kids were trying to imitate his stunts and getting hurt. This tirade went on for a while, but once it got serious, people started leaving...

I guess we all know that Bert is evil, but SuperGrover?

This is insanely difficult, and I watched a *lot* of Sesame Street as a kid. Even went to the exhibit when it was at the Boston Children's Museum. I'm almost embarrassed at my poor performance.

scores:
fuzzy/blue: 21640
_ is for cookie: 26260
neighborhood: 21710
broken toster: 21170
follow that bird: 7230 (ran out of time because I had to help someone at work)
ab-cdef: 15380

And I like how Oscar asks if I have something better to be doing - like getting actual work done

This is great. I say this despite the fact that I sucked at it. A lot has gone down on Sesame Street since I stopped watching it about 24 years ago.

Wow - I'm horrified at how few of these I can answer. Love the abuse though.

For some reason, one of my all time favorite things was the orange singing Carmen. I wish I had that on tape.

Is the bonus round the same every time? I only got there once (the _ is for Cookie category). I'd be so much better at this if it were the Muppet Show instead of Sesame Street, but it's still pretty damned cool, even without the sound (no soundcard on my work machine). Thanks for the link.

bonus round seems to cycle through a few options - I had four different bonus games out of 5 times reaching it.

(curse that 7230 - messed up my streak!)

Great link. That was a lovely waste of twenty minutes.

And also - Super Grover bad for kids? That's just wrong. Super Grover did so many good things! At least she didn't catch on to Captain Breakfast - my favourite Sesame Street skit.

yeah! , and those segments where they'd play bluegrass music over films of factories making crayons or balloons or something. i wish someone had compiled a video of those insterstitial segments.

This is cool. I was very sad Sunday night to read in the paper that the Sesame Street 35th anniversaty special was on that night...an hour before I read about it. I doubt anyone I know taped it. At least the quiz will console me.

I think it's being repeated a few times this week, during daytime hours. Check your local listings (or if you have a TiVo or ReplayTV or whatever, search for "Sesame Street: The Street We Live On").

Wasn't that a Mr. Rogers bit? The orange crayon and the saxophone are the two I remember distinctly.

Is there a question about the precise moment the show started its decline? My feeling is that it has something to do with Elmo. Others might point to me no longer being 4.

Three of these things belong together, three of these things are one and the same. But one of these things is not like the other, now it's time to play our game.

IT'S TIME TO PLAY OUR GAME.

Burned into my brain.

linux: The pinball number song was recently released on vinyl (for the first time) on the Ninjatune label. The record also includes two disco mixes of C is for Cookie.

I was very sad Sunday night to read in the paper that the Sesame Street 35th anniversary special was on that night...an hour before I read about it.

Don't be sad -- it wasn't actually very good ... no where near as good as the previous anniversary specials. It was framed in the "Elmo's World" format, and most of the stuff relating to the history of SS was jammed into two very short (like, a minute or two) sequences near the end. You can read some reviews from hard-core muppet fans in the Muppet Central forums. I gather there is also going to be a 35th anniversary DVD which is the best of all the celebrity appearances on the show.
