If you could steal* any web design, which one would you take?
When I get around to it, I would like to do something like this, this or maybe this.
*Stealing is defined as taking only the design codes and not any content off of the site without the designer's permission.

I already *can* steal any web design I want; it's a pretty simple thing to do, and something that happens all too often. Heh. Of course, that's not what you meant. Possibly it's just who I am (and this isn't a unique stance, especially here) but I'd rather not steal any specific design. It's just no fun. My personal site's pretty plain, because a designer I am not, but it is mine, from the overly simple images to the overly annoying navigational "scheme" I've got there. I think my point is that there's just no entertainment value in using someone elses design, and what are personal sites for if not entertaining yourself?

You have a point there. I know my readers both get annoyed because I redesign every month or two, but that is the whole point of having the site. All the content is just secondary, and excuse to have a site to redesign. There is no fun at all in stealing someone else's design. But sometimes some one figures out how to do something cool, and I think that there is nothing wrong with approprating that knowledge to further your own design.

It's a story-telling site, about times you've almost had sex, but didn't quite go all the way. I could find two stories - the current one and one in the archive - that are both well-written. Hey, looks as though good ol' ben is gettin' his fingers dirty in another site. Nifty!

I'd rather not think about almost times, really. But beyond that, I'm not a fan of code thievery. I've seen whole sites that have been a Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V dealie except with names and links altered. It wasn't pretty, and I got pretty pissed off at the person (even though it wasn't my code that was stolen). The joy of having a site (though mine is so simple) is the tweaks and changes I can make to it. when stuff doesn't work how I'd intended, it's frustrating, but enjoyable to work through it. and then, when I'm done, I can say it's mine.

Well Osil 8 looks alright and the second one is okay but...why would you want your site to look like almost? Admitedly all of my stuff looks shit so I can't really complain. I wouldn't mind if I had a site that looked like digital diaries but thats more to do with having photos of myself having sex.

I just love the "floating" look of the almost.org site. I also love that scrolling background. It is just sooo .... neat! My point was to find out which site designs you admire and might want to recreate yourself. (I just chose to use the word "steal.")
