Ma, ma, where's my pa? Designing a Kerry t-shirt--har, har, har

Designs on the White House -- an online design contest, judged by designers, celebrities, and activists. Winning designs will be available for resale on T-shirts and other products, and all proceeds after expenses will benefit the John Kerry Presidential campaign. Impressive list of judges, including (so far) Milton Glaser, Chip Kidd, Ed Schlossberg, Atrios, and Tom Tomorrow. Designs will be online throughout May, with your votes determining the finalists. (Kerry's official shirts are lacking, imho) Maybe campaign memorabilia always has been?

Hey, the ringer is kind of cool looking.

My hope is that they don't make every entry public, otherwise the RNC will find the one or two shirts that reference hitler (oh, you know some shithead will enter one) and smear the entire contest as anti-semetic.

the ringer looks like they stole it right from you, matt : >

I think they're going to make sure they only show shirts that stick to the theme, which is electing/promoting Kerry (and not bashing Bush). I can't imagine Milton Glaser or Schlossberg (Carolyn Kennedy's hubby) would be part of it otherwise.

Oh man, this is great. Thanks for the heads-up Amberglow.

Actually, though, there is an anti-Bush category, so keep your eyes peeled for the Bush=Hitler shirts. They make no mention of moderation or censorship on the site, and it seems that all the entries will be made public.

Yea, that's what they'll do alright. What page did you see that on? I can't seem to...

I dunno, the Embroidered Denim Shirt is awfully striking.

Hey XPUTZferpeepoo... what's to google? You can't google something that hasn't happened (referring to mathowie's claim that he RNC WILL do something, as opposed to suggesting that they might). You can't google a prediction. But thanks for the neato links!

"What page did you see that on" refers to the imaginary handbook some people seem to be referencing when they post their political comments. I didn't ask what webpage? It was sarcasm. Sarcasm is soooooo haaaaard. {ding!}

Until someone submits a pink design, it's going to be awfully hard for me to be a gay zombie wearing a Kerry '04 t-shirt.
