24 Hour Comics dot com: April 24 was 24-Hour Comics Day. Similar to weekend novels, people are supposed to gather and work on a comic and try to complete it, start to finish, within 24-hours (though there are some variations). Championed (or invented?) by Scott McCloud (previously discussed here), you can celebrate either by trying to do one on your own, or reading some written by others, including Neil Gaiman and Kevin Eastman.

Interesting, but I wish I'd heard about this 24 hours ago...

It's funny, but at age 44 7/8 I'm finally making progress on a lifelong wish; making a comic book. I've always wanted to do this, and I finally have a (somewhat self-absorbed) story to tell. I'm up to page 3 on art, and have about 5 pages of plot outlines.

Not that I could crank it out in 24 hours...

I liked the Gaiman one. Too bad his handwriting and the quality of the scan are so bad that I could only make out about 70% of the text. Doesn't he know to write comics in all caps?

this is a great idea--so many of us need a deadline to actually finish things.
