As more evidence comes out of secret (and traitorously illegal) work by Republican operatives before the '68 and '80 elections to sabotage foreign policy efforts by Democratic Presidents, it's obvious the best thing Clinton can do to help Gore is to stay out of delicate negotiations before the elections. I'm sure Dubbya's people already have made promises to OPEC about what his Administration will do for them if they help him get elected. But then, Clinton is probably the first Democratic President capable of sinking as low as the Repubs.
