A Visit to Old Los Angeles "A pictorial survey of downtown Los Angeles, and certain other areas, focusing on the years 1900 to 1915, though occasionally making use of images from other times. This series will follow, primarily by means of actual postcards of the era, the travels of a farming family from the great plains as they visit Los Angeles and its environs in the early years of the Twentieth Century." In 29 episodes, and with lots of postcards.

Oh I am dead from the sheer amount of cool here. When I was in high school, we had did a tour of downtown L.A., from Skid Row to Olvera Street, and it was a great revelation to everyone who had lived in the South Bay all our lives. And this is almost as fabulous.

Also, Long Beach! Okay, I'm actually from the part of Long Beach that really came together after the development of Lakewood post WWII, but, hey, hometown! Gotta be proud!

This is the best thing I've seen in ages. I love old pictures of cities, and I went to college in LA, so this is pure catnip. And I had a favorite aunt and uncle in Long Beach, so thanks for sending me to that section, Katemonkey!
