You favorite band sucks, too, keswick. Why don't people who don't care for improvisational rock just stay out of the discussion just for once? I'm shocked by this announcement, although the sparse summer tour and the sub-par shows in Vegas this spring did already hint that the hiatus only fixed things for a limited time.

I would hope that, whether or not you participated in or appreciated the cultural phenomenon, MeFites could appreciate the news-worthiness of this post ... one of the nation's largest touring act is calling it quits. From a socio-cultural perspective, if not an asthetic one, that's some interesting news. Regardless of whether you liked or didn't like the era, it's ending.

One of the musical projects I'm involved with is a glorified cover band, and much of that band's (no self-link as there's no link to speak of) material is in the jam-band vein. We play bars around here (Richmond, VA) and fraternity parties at Virginia and North Carolina schools. Phish songs are always a hit with the crowds there, and as silly as we sometimes feel about playing songs about possums or olfactory hues, it's fun music to play.
