Keep in mind that I love "Flying Circus" enough to own the complete episode box set when I say this: There's a bunch of non-elderly people who would claim that "The Family Circus" was funny if Eric Idle's name appeared in the byline. I listened to that song against my better judgement, because I die a little bit inside every time he pops up and he's not funny anymore. Yes, I already had an expectation when I listened to it. But so did everyone else.

It's a little bit funny, but the quarter million dollar joke isn't really at anybody's expense but his own. I mean, it can't be broadcast, and the people he's making fun of sure don't want it to be broadcast anyway, so it's not like he's pointing out some great irony. Though not quite the same, I hear it frequently on Sirius "Raw Dog" often. So, fuck you very much the FCC. Yet, "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy" (video) can play on CMT at 13:30 EST with it's lewd lyrics and matching imagery. Oh, and I'm not talking about this DVD (NSFW). (Disclaimer: I appreciate and respect both artists mentioned in this post and think Eric Idle's sums up my opinion of the FCC concisely.)

...I really never thought I'd hear "bling-blingin'" in C&W twang. Also, I'm gonna go ahead and predict that song makes a name for itself at pridefests nationwide. Especially considering that cover art, jesus (also unf). Is all C&W like this? Should I be listening to more? The song from the FPP - meh. All the normal potshots at all the normal targets. Especially since I borrowed thye compleat dvd set of flying circus from a friend recently, this just can't really stand up to it.
