It also wants to buy "pollution rights" from countries like Russia that are burning less fossil fuel because their economies have collapsed."

Not that Canada's alone in the above, and not that the solution is a click away, but you have to start somewhere. For those of you who aren't Canadian, David Suzuki is a respected scientist and public figure who's been worth listening to since...since...forever.

This is the same kind of thing the Gaia chap has been saying (not sure where I read that, though - sorry) (mayeb it was here a while back :-) - claimed he'd be happy to have a year's nuclear waste burried in his garden and would use it to sterilize food...

I've always liked the idea of a "right to pollute" market. It creates the right kind of incentives, clarifies how polluting is an economic cost, and allows businesses to choose to improve on their schedule while still decreasing overall pollution.
