Wonderfully surreal. Five galleries of (literally) fantastic, mostly figurative images by Maggie Taylor. Serendipity has me reading Perdido Street Station at the moment, and these quaintly eerie portraits seem almost as though they could have been plucked from Miéville's mythic population of bizarre Remades, uncanny constructs and outlandish alien races. Just my two pence about Perdido Street Station and Mr Mieville who I think has a great scope and imagination, typically European in its approach, intelligent and needing David Lynch to make the film - great images taz.

Perdido is definitely a film waiting to happen, very, very good book (and the art is deep in the creepy valley)

Wonderful, Kirk! Here's another site where you can see somewhat larger images of her (Varo's) work. I really like the sort of steam-punk-surreal-pulp-mysty-ness of some of these, like the last one on this page of oil paintings.

Biffa: My thoughts exactly. The book was incredible for about the first half, at which point it started dragging and the whole of the end was stretched out and dull. A real shame.
