"Bush established the New Freedom Commission on Mental Health in April 2002 to conduct a "comprehensive study of the United States mental health service delivery system." The commission issued its recommendations in July 2003. Bush instructed more than 25 federal agencies to develop an implementation plan based on those recommendations. The president's commission found that "despite their prevalence, mental disorders often go undiagnosed" and recommended comprehensive mental health screening for "consumers of all ages," including preschool children." It's madness. Nowadays the Controllers won't approve of any new game unless it can be shown that it requires at least as much apparatus as the most complicated of existing games. I know I'm skipping a generation of consoles (N64, 32X, Playstation and Dreamcast) and I'm not even talking about P.C. games... But you get the idea...

There's so much wrong with this that I don't even know where to start. - Another massive social program from Amurka's second favorite "conservative" president - Another great vote buying and campaign donations strategy from the right's greatest living Svengali - Screening the entire population for mental illness? It's hard to discuss this without straying into tinfoil hat territory, but with mental illness already stigmatized, once we've decided who's mentally ill (let alone who's "mentally ill"), what are we going to decide that society needs to do to protect itself from them? For example, we can already effectively lock up pedophiles for life in order to protect society (not that I can think of a better idea). And, of course, the incarcerated can't vote... It's a slippery slope, folks - Finally, there's the whole "pay no attention to the man behind the screen" aspect hinted at by Capn.
