Amazed anyone could build a boat from such minimal plans. Yet people did, these boat plans were very common in the 1950s. I know my dad built one as a teenager. Master woodworkers were a lot more common back then when everything was DIY from scratch by hand and not pre-assembled.

It would be an excellent project to undertake if I had the time, space and money to do it. If my dad were still alive then I'd definitely send him there and get him started as I'm sure he'd have loved the challenge.

Yep crazy finger, Chesapeake Lightcraft are the coolest boats. Sure beats cutting up marine plywood.

Pygmy makes very nice kits. I've been wanting to build a Bolger brick for years. If you're short on scrilla, you could build a coracle or a mighty blue tarp kayak!!

Glen-L is a kit house from that time that is still going. They've got anything from Martini runabouts to boats for kids to electric barges (huh?)

In high school a friend and I rebuilt an old, ahem, Snark that was ful of holes. We only took it out twice before his brother drove a motorcycle through it in the backyard. Good times...

I guess I'm a heathen. The most fun I've ever had in a boat was when I was allowed to borrow one of these for a weekend. Sailing is a relaxing way to spend a day, but breaking 100mph on the water, now that's excitement. The only problem is that it's worse for the environment than one of these.
