Captured! by Robots is a band made up of one man and the robots he buit to accompany him. Only the robots - DRMBOT, GTRBOT, AUTOMOTOM, and the HEADLESS HORNSMEN - revolted and enslaved him. Now he has no choice but to serve their evil ends - touring the Western United States and enslaving everyone they come into contact with through song. Some videos of them in action. (.mov)

I saw him.. I mean, them open for MC Paul Barman a few months ago - what a whacked out billing. The death metal irritates pretty quickly, but the combined will of JBot and Charlton Heston keep the novelty of the act alive.

If they come to your area I highly recommend seeing them, it's a great show. They guy built friggin robots (including ex-Chuck E Cheese animitrons) and tours the country with them, which is what our founding fathers no doubt intended.

Also, NYT on C!BR.

They're everywhere! Why do the scientists even make them?

I too have seen them. The music is atrocious. The showmanship is great. This is definately the kind of band that is best experienced while drunk.

The Galactic Federation of Love is an amazing Tucson band that features a bassist who is a shape shifting reptile who slipped into this dimension. They are going on a nationwide tour as of today. Go see them, you will not be dissapointed. Their leadsinger is Lemonman. Download the Mp3s on their page visit Davidicke.com and join in the fight to save our planet from lizards.

I've heard good things about their live show, but I miss Skankin' Pickle. (Jason Vance was their bassist sometime before his robot abduction.)

me too, todd. They practicly played the anthem to my high school experience in New Haven during the mid-90's.

ska. was I ever that young?

anyway, shape shifting reptiles are all well and good, but these are god damned ROBOTS.

ACTUAL ROBOTS.
PLAYING INSTRUMENTS.
IN A BAND.

I can't, being human and therefore frail and fragile, possibly imagine anything more rock and roll than that.

I'm with ChasFile -- goddamnit, man -- ROBOTS!!

I can't help thinking though that load-in must be the pits. I mean, not only are your bandmates not going to be helping but you've got to load them in as well...
