I learned all about this through a CSI episode. Except for the twin part. Mainly I learned: (1) For God's sake, dry clean your furry costume to erase any incriminating, er, evidence if your furry partner dies an untimely death, and (2) Don't walk around a highway at night in your furry suit.

rcade had an awesome Furry item on cruel.com a while back. It was the livejournal fallout from a furry-artist love triangle. I daresay it was kind of captivating to read the spurned one's daily railings against the sad, sad world, but the Cruel.com regulars started posting unsympathetic comments to his livejournal so he closed down. But do a google search for Roland Bloodthunder, he's still out there, although he's mostly over it.

Well, I would imagine that only truly being aroused by something so specific would mean a certain amount of limitation in one's sex life. Pre-internet, you might live your entire life and never meet another person with your fetish for double headed four breasted porn stars... If you find that so powerful that you abandon whatever flavour of your normal sex life, then I find it troubling, because I wonder if your ability to relate sexually to other people as people is compromised. (I'm not being judgemental using the word "normal", but I mean it to indicate the type of sex lives that the majority of us, both gay and straight, engage in, i.e. having sex with another person without the need to imagine or pretend that they are animals made of balloons or latex. Or whatever.)

On the other hand, some of that stuff reminds me creepily of childhood games more than anything else; the way we used to pretend we were animals and act out fantasies (which were sexual only in the most subliminal and underdeveloped way). Gack. So many children's books feature anthropomorphized animals-- is this a coincidence? Or an attempt to recapture the imaginative horizon of childhood intersecting with adult sexual drives?

And I used to think that slash was weird. How innocent I was....
