Wacky Packages are back! Everyone's favourite stickers from childhood are back. The originals were developed by Maus author Art Spiegelman way back in 1967, with the first series of stickers being released in 1973.

Sometimes goofy, often gross, Wacky Packages were a 10-year-old's dream come true (with Garbage Pail Kids a close second).

I was totally into wackypacks when I was a kid. And it was subversive, amber.. as subversive as a white, suburban 2nd grader could be in the early 70's.

I collected and studied these obsessively, and actually drew up my own series of ones they hadn't done (the only one I can remember now is "Clobber Girl"). They were pretty good for an 11-year-old or whatever I was. I still have the reply from Topp's patiently explaining that they had their own artists to do the stickers and thus would not be needing any of the fine samples I had sent.

I saw a guy selling a full sheet of originals (so he claimed) on the street in front of Grand Central Station in NY for $50. I spent a few minutes looking at them. It's incredible how many of them were still lodged in my brain taking up space after 30 years. Thanks to GaelFC, now I know how he was making money.
