This is truly the best of the net. I'm sure that when Vint Cerf was first designing TCP, his primary thought was "some day, people will post photos of them having fun with their tracheostomy". The trach pr0n can't be far behind.

When I worked as a Respiratory Therapist, I found that people have a lot of fun with their trachs. In the hospital we're very serious about such things --- but when you live with the thing 24/7 --- well, you learn to not take it so seriously. It's sort of -- posthuman goofiness. I appreciate all the disclaimers as well. Because trying some of those things you really could do damage. the fact that his trach is cuffless means that air can escape around the trach and up -- if it were a cuffed trach some of those stunts could easily cause a collapsed lung and other effects. Wacky stuff.

There are so many many things wrong with this. True, but the fact that he can have a sense of humour about it is a testament to the nature of human beings.

A testament indeed, dg. Did you see the look of joy on the man's face in those pictures? I have to respect that. But at the same time I shuddered. And thought of Dead Again, when Andy Garcia smokes a cigarette through his trach. Should be required viewing for all eighth graders.
