Mega Rabbit.
posted by moonbird (14 comments total)

From mega- representing the combined form of the Greek me´gaj meaning "great" i.e. large in size, prefixing rabbit likely from the Northern French and/or Flemish, cf rabouillère (the burrow made by the female rabbit to kindle in), also the possibly more primative Middle English rabet. Synonyms: big bunny, poss. large lapin.

Watch Local 6 News for more on this story.
I always laugh when I see that footnote after some utterly trivial story. It's like playing with my 3 year old nephew. "Watch this Uncle! Watch this John!" followed by the pause while he figures out exactly what he wants me to watch.

ARTHUR: Three. Three. And we'd better not risk another frontal assault. That rabbit's dynamite.

substrate - yeah, you can just picture the follow-up:

BREAKING NEWS: Roberto the Big Bunny, featured on Local 6 News last week, has kept growing... and he's now the size of TWO three-year-old children. In fact, authorities fear he may have eaten one. We cross now to Amsterdam, where police have staked out his Dutch hutch...

Yeah, yeah. I'll be impressed when it can balance a whole plate of pancakes on its head.

I suspect that the rabbit is only that long with his legs stretched out behind him. I hope for his owners' sake that he is. Otherwise they would be powerless against his sexual advances-- if a normal-sized rabbit will try to hump a dog, a giant rabbit is likely to treat everything that moves as his prison bitch.

Obviously fake.

Actually, I believe he's now living in the forest outside the sub-division.

Hello, tasty children...

Obviously fake

That was my first reaction, but apparently not.

Yipes. It's Night of the Lepus, here to kill us all. If only Old Glory Insurance had a Bunny Attack plan...

Big bunny would very much like to meet a delicious crunchy kitty.

Considering even small rabbits can be pretty effective at getting you to feed/pet/pay attention to them, Roberto ought to get just about anything he wants.

I miss my rabbit, and Oolong, too.
