Bah, who needs it? It actually sounds like -more- work than carrying a small extensible tripod around. I've got one that's probably 6" when folded up that will go nearly as high as your average soda bottle when fully extended. I mean, sure, I paid $8.50 more or something, but that pays for itself in about four sodas worth of sessions plus the added peace of mind that I don't have my goddamned multihundreds cam attached to a unstable lump of plastic, soda and hardware.

I think the whole point is portability. You only carry the bottle top and then if you need a tripod you can buy a bottle of coke and screw your cap on.

Quite a groovy idea - certainly handy for night time Lomo shots

Of course, if you have a flat space to sit the bottle on, coudn't you could just sit the camera on it?

I've had two Ultrapods (one in each size) for years. The small one works great for my new small digital camera. Fits in the small case along with the camera, too.

In addition serving as a traditional tripod, I use it in a variety of ways for steadying the camera. In a church in Santa Fe last month, I attached the camera but left it folded up, and just held it firmly against a pew to get some very nice non-flash photography.
