What happened to the Open Directory? Does anyone know why this site has gone down?

There was a page explaining that the site was down and they were working on it. I've never seen a major site do that for five hours, aside from eBay.

Oops.

You wanna work up some indignation; aim it at Deja (no-longer-news) I have no hope at all either that the old archives will ever come back, nor indeed that they still exist, and I don't think they've been archiving the stuff posted since they dumped the old archive, either.

You wanna blow the lid off something, go there.
