Did you pay for a Playstation 2 already?I did, through Kay-Bee online, and I better get one, though half of the expected US launch will not arrive on Oct. 26th.

If you placed your PS2 order on or before July 9, we expect your console to arrive at launch, which Sony says will be October 26. Feel free to cheer, shed tears of joy or embrace a loved one.
If you placed your order between July 10 and July 24, we will do our best to ship your PS2 to you as soon as we receive it. We expect more shipments of the PS2 after the official launch, and we will work with Sony to get it to you as soon as possible.
If you placed your order after July 24, may the Force be with you. As you are well aware, demand for Sony's next-generation console seems to have outstripped supply for the foreseeable future. We don't even want to speculate as to when you might receive your order.
And when did I place my order? July 25th, of course.
My Dvd player got ripped off last year and I decided to wait for this box too cover all my bases and eliminate unecessary hardware from the house. One year later I am hurting waiting for this to come out. My chipped playstation is almost petered out and I have a small stack of DVD that I cannot bear to watch while sitting infront of a cpu. If it's any consol(e)ation (sorry, bad loke but I couldn't resist...), it's the same story in the UK, I queued on Sept. 7th in my local PS retailer (Electronics Boutique) for an hour like the kid behind the counter told me the day before.
When I got to the front of the queue I was told I couldn't put my name on the Sony list if I wasn't on their list which was started in January. So I have no idea when I'll get my hands on one, but I'm damned sure it won't come from Electronics Boutique.
The question has been raised by a few gaming friends of mine as to whether Sony was, as they say, trying to avoid the situation they had in Japan where retailers had queues of people disappointed or whether it's just a way to delay the launch and create a bigger demand among a hotly contested and valuable market sector (second hand Dreamcast anyone?).
