Lather, rinse, repeat. "The forums are ablaze with vitriolic rage. Haters pan the device for being less powerful than a Cray X1 while zealots counter that it is both smaller and lighter than a Buick Regal. The virtual slap-fight goes on and on, until obscure technical nuances like,'Will it play multiplexed Ogg Vorbis streams?' become matters of life and death." Perhaps 1 Infinite Loop has an archetypical drama. [more q daily newsfilter]

Okay. Well, um, so what? Most of us in the Mac community have seen this already... weeks old. It's some mildly humorous satire, with a little truth and a bit of exaggeration.

What's the point of posting it here?

Well, now people outside of the cult can have a laugh at their expense... isn't that fair?

You know, they really ought to fix that whole Ogg Vorbis problem. I might think about buying one of those thingies if it would actually, you know, work with my data.

he finds most "Mac people" to be tiresome and annoying. He is pretty sure that if he had to attend WWDC or Macworld, he would wind up slapping the shit out of a bunch of people

yes.

Much truth and much exaggeration, I think. Even as a mac owner, I hadn't seen it and I thought it was hilarious and I'm glad a few other people were amused.

Plus I was hoping somebody -- freebird? Ethereal Bligh? -- might pick up the Mircea Eliade angle. But you don't always get what you wish for.

Anybody seen that "no, you can't have a pony" picture?

Absolutely hilarious. The only things that needed to be integrated into the satirical storie are kittens and ponies. (It already has Maria Bartiromo...)

Who does he think he is? Dave Barry?
