I found Gumtree.com when I looked over at the guy next to me's internet cafe screen the last time I was in London (does everyone do that?). It's sorta like the London Craigslist, but with pages for cities all over the UK, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia.

Based on a quick perusal I would say the localization of the gumtrees is a bit weak. In the Birmingham gumtree all the listings still seem to be for london.

Man. The First Rule... [joking!] Gumtree is great for finding a flat in London if you are an ex-pat (non-brit) as it is slightly anti-po(h)m and the commonwealth kids tend to be more transient and thus more flexible and open to creative living situations. But, just like Craigslist, sketchy folk abound so use caution and common sense.

My mistake. My perusal was too quick. I ended up back in the main gumtree. So my comment is incorrect.

Gumtree is great and I love the solidarity that comes with the travelling crowd especially Antipodeans in LDN. TNT is similar.

Sorry for the pointless comment the office is empty and I am just reaching out.

There are Australians in London? They'll be working behind our bars and moaning about everything next.

Judging by the number of aussies on the streets of our dear capital i predict that by 2012 the entire population of australia will consist only of the cast of Neighbours.

As long as the cast of Home and Away stays there, it's all good.

Meanwhile, Australia is being taken over by the Scandis.
